Estonian Olympic athletes turned into anime characters!

It’s time for the Tokyō Summer Olympics. To commemorate this occasion, the Estonian Olympic Committee commissioned anime-style portraits of the Estonian Olympic team from the mysterious Japanese illustrator MONQ.

The anonymous artist, who gained fame on Twitter, said that the offer was pleasantly surprising, but before accepting the job, they had to make sure that the request was real, not just junk mail.

MONQ drew wonderful pictures, among the athletes who got anime-style makeovers were epee foursome Erika Kirpu, Julia Beljajeva, Katrina Lehis and Kristina Kuusk, cyclist Tanel Kangert, tennis star Anett Kontaveit, wrestler Epp Mäe, decathlete Maicel Uibo, and quadruple sculls team Kaspar Taimsoo, Tõnu Endrekson, Allar Raja and Jüri-Mikk Udam.
